How to Hold A Bingo Fund-Raising Event

If you have a knack for helping people in need, a charity bingo night might be a good event for you. Bingo is a good, fun activity that will get people interested to contribute in your fund raising. You get to get some money for the people you want to help plus you get to serve an enjoyable night to people in your community.

Why bingo? People will be more willing to give their money if they are getting something from it. By holding a bingo game, they also get the chance to win something for their own. The first step is to find a suitable location to hold your Bingo fund raiser. You may hold this in the town hall, or a local school's auditorium, or maybe a local sports facility who will be willing to lend their ground for one night. Ideally, the bingo event location must be able to hold a big number of people, and is well-ventilated. Some convention halls offer discounts for events that will benefit charitable organizations, and some even offer it for free.

After the event has been secured, you would then need to select the prizes to be given away. These can be small items like gift certificates, shirts or mugs; or bigger prizes such as appliances, electronics or vacation packages. A good tip would be to solicit the help of local establishments, and see if they will be willing to donate some of their products in exchange for publicity in your bingo event.

Remember to take care of the technical details for the bingo charity event proper. You may need to have a proper sound system, lights and ventilation. Make sure that all the bingo supplies are covered as well, such as the raffle tickets, drop boxes, bingo cards and markers. Food and beverage is also a great addition to events such as these, although it's optional. A food stall may also be set up for additional revenue.

You also need to assign volunteers to help out in the bingo event. Someone would need to man the door and ensure that the tickets are accounted for, someone would have to call out the drawn numbers, and someone would have to make sure that these numbers are posted on a board for easy reference.

As the organizer, it would be wise to check with your municipal office to know if you will be needing a permit to hold this event. After all details are ironed out, spread the word through flyers posters and local announcements. Be sure to mention that this is for a good cause, you will be surprised at how many people will be eager to help!
